Description The module aims to enhance knowledge and understanding of the research process necessary to underpin evidence-based practice in nursing. Students will consider the nature of evidence to underpin nursing practice and engage in structured tutorials focusing on sourcing the best available evidence to underpin decision-making. Students will examine common research approaches used in nursing and consider the rationale underpinning selection. They will critically appraise relevant material to determine it s utility to practice and explore possible alternatives that exist and may inform practice. Students will be exposed to a variety of learning activities during the course of the module including lectures & seminars and will be expected to participate actively in the learning process available. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Learning Outcomes 1. Describe key differences between qualitative and quantitative research. 2. Identify a particular area of practice for exploration. 3. Develop practice related questions 4. Source best available evidence to answer practice related questions. 5. Critique the best available evidence. 6.
